Ayurveda is a healing system which was developed in India more than 3000 years ago. Being one of the oldest practices, it’s based on the concept that health and wellness are achieved when there is a balance between your body, mind, and spirit.PCOS (Polycystic Ovary syndrome) is a disorder due to hormonal imbalance that affects females in their reproductive age. It is one of the most common female disorders, affecting 20% of women, that can lead to primary and secondary infertility. It is often characterised by increase in levels of Androgens (Testosterone in particular), and low levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) . This often results in irregular menstruation in women.PCOS in Ayurveda was correlated with Aarthava Kshava. According to Ayurveda, in PCOS, Kapha and Vata dosha are aggravated. PCOS treatment in Ayurveda is a long-term procedure, which requires Nasya, Virechana, Shirodhara and Uttarbasti along with lifestyle and especially Diet modification. So, here we have given a few ayurvedic food tips common to every woman,1)Ashwagandha- also known as Indian Ginseng or Winter Cherry, this herb helps maintain a balance of Cortisol levels which can improve PCOS symptoms as well as improve stress.2) Haldi- also known as Turmeric, is one of the superfoods(spices) of Ayurveda. Turmeric contains an active ingredient, Curcumin, which gives it a yellow colour. Curcumin can help in decreasing insulin resistance and also act as an anti-inflammatory agent.3)Dalcheeni- also known as Cinnamon, is harvested from the bark of a cinnamon tree. It is more than just a spice when it comes to its unbelievable benefits. It can positively affect insulin resistance parameters in PCOS.
