Hanumanasana | What is the story of hanumanasan

Hanuman is one of the most worshiped gods in India. As the Ramayana portrays ,his devotion to Lord Rama was such that he went searching the world for Rama’s beloved wife Maa Sita, who was taken by Raavan. His devotion to Lord Rama was something so great it's still talked about.

Pawanputra Hanuman is known for his leaps in Hindu mythology.  On multiple occasions he has leaped across oceans and half of the world in his devotion to Lord Rama and Maa Sita. He leaped across the ocean to Lanka to look for Maa Sita. he leaped across half the world to get the necessary medicine when Lord Rama's brother Lord Laksmana was injured.

The asana named after Hanuman—on the floor in a full split—is one of the most challenging ones. Open hamstrings and quadriceps muscles help you progress in the pose, but it’s the qualities of Lord Hanuman that serve us most: pure motivation and the spirit to overcome any challenge.

Hanumanasana reminds us that we can free ourselves of our small stride, our narrowness, our petty circumstances. Like Hanuman, this asan teaches us to take a leap for the things we believe in and for the people we love.
