Vata dosha, often referred to as the King of dosha, because it controls movements of your body. This dosha can help you move your arms, legs, swallow food, eliminate waste from your body and even blink an eye.If your Vata dosha is balanced, most likely Pitta and Kapha doshas are also balanced. Here are some tips to balance your vata dosha with a diet,· Vata can be balanced with sweet, sour and salty foods, so one should include these tastes in the meals· Food that is bitter, astringent or pungent in tastes should be avoided or taken in moderation.· Use of ghee, or olive oil in your food is recommended in your diet. Vegetables and spices can be sautéed in ghee or olive oil, even soups can be drizzled with some amount of ghee to balance your Dosha.· One should refrain from eating dry food such as crackers, biscuits, and cold cereal.· One should have warm meals that are cooked to pacify aggravated Vata. Soups, cooked fruit, hot cereal, warm milk, rice puddings are a nice comfort meal option.· Vata types should avoid or minimize raw foods such as salads and raw sprouts.· Nuts are a wonderful option for snacks, almonds, cashews, walnuts are great vata-pacifying options.· Wheat and Basmati rice are also recommended in the diet with a drizzle of ghee on top of them for sweet flavor.
