Get Rid of Postpartum Stretch Marks the Ayurvedic Way

There is an insurmountable joy when a mother holds her little one for the first time. Every moment thereon, life becomes more meaningful. Every pain that a mother undergoes during her pregnancy and childbirth vanishes when she witnesses her child’s first steps or their first smile. While the little one is at the receiving end of all the love and care from his/her family members, mothers need to care for their bodies, too.

Stretch marks post-pregnancy is a concern for many new mothers. This is the body’s way of accommodating a new life within itself. Although this might pale in comparison to other bodily changes, this also deserves attention. If left unattended, it can cause itching, a burning sensation and, peeling of one’s skin.

According toAyurveda, postpartum stretch marks are calledkikkisa and are often caused due to an imbalance inkaphaand/orpitta dosha. An imbalance in the former causes itching while the latter results in the burning sensation.

The stretch marks can be cured by following simpleAyurvedasteps with ingredients that are available in the comforts of your kitchen. However, it is important to pay attention to the ingredients to ensure that there are no allergens. If the stretch marks become severe over time, it is always advisable to consult one’s physician.
