“I believe there are no transformations in life but every human being is destined to be who they are meant to be in this life-time.

Hi, I am Nidhi Thakkar, a qualified Chartered Accountant. I left my full time job as I realised that my purpose in life was different and I decided to pay attention to my inner calling.

Yoga was introduced to me at a very young age by my mother, but as the academic life took over I lost touch with the yoga practice.

After I qualified as a CA, I started feeling lost in the corporate world. I was always inquisitive towards questions of what is the purpose of my life? That is the time when yoga came into my life, as that was what I was seeking.

Also, I could not spend time with my mom due to erratic work time. So, I decided to join Mysore style practice with her. I was lucky to practice with a great yogi and a teacher, Suvir Balvi. My guruji's shala was 20 kms away from where we lived so we woke up as early as 4.30am to join the practice. It was a life altering experience. He not only shaped our physical bodies but also our minds. It was during this time that I decided to quit my job. Meanwhile, I tried to establish myself as a belly dancer, today I am a full time professional belly dancer and a yoga instructor - founder of Jiriki Art Space.

Last year, we decided to enroll for teachers training at Indea yoga Mysore to practice with my guru Bharath Sir and it changed our life completely. Bharath Sir with his clear purpose always inspired me.

My mother at the age of 50 teaches me to value the practice of yoga by being an example of a great teacher. Sharing knowledge with my students adds value to my life. I will always be thankful to my mother and teachers for making me be the person who I am today. My purpose at Jiriki Art Space is to empower people through movement and let them experience the roots of their existence.

In frame - me and my mom pallavi thakkar.”
