"I fell in love with the strong mind yoga gave me." - Pooja Parashar
Sunday Story edition 33 with Pooja Parashar@thatpahadiyogini“Yoga was my true calling but I realised it quite late in my life though. Growing up, I was never into sports or fitness. I started practising yoga after my daughter's birth.I put on some 28 kgs during my pregnancy and one day, I realised that I need to be strong and fit to be able to play with her and to show her that giving her birth made me strong and not the other way around. One day, I was scrolling down and saw@taliasutra profile, I fell in love with the yoga.I started practising yoga from her and other youtube videos for purely physical fitness reasons but later on, I fell in love with the strong mind yoga gave me.And then a year back, there was a turning point in my yoga journey when I found my true ikigai in yoga and certified myself as a hatha yoga instructor from Yoga alliance US.Since then, yoga has been an essential part of my life and I love the way I am able to change a part of my students' life as well with my yoga classes.I lost around 25 kgs of my pregnancy weight with yoga in the past 3 years.Once a lazy potato, now I start my day at 5 o'clock every single morning. I gained my lost confidence in life.Yoga brought me into a deep sense of relaxation and confidence. I finally understood that there was no satisfaction in trying to find happiness outside myself.I am better at my corporate job and yoga helped me become a better mother also. I am calmer, more patient with my child and family now. More than my lifestyle, I love when my students share positive life changes after yoga classes. I teach yoga to only women - if you want to make a household fit, just make the women of the household fit.Yoga isn’t going to turn everyone’s life around, but it has the potential to do so. You just need to be open to it and show up on that mat every single day . I don’t know whether it was luck or karma but yoga came to me at the right time and finally I found my ikigai as a yoga teacher.I don't know what your goals are with yoga but I can assure you one thing that you will be a better person after embracing yoga in your life."
