A year back, I had put on weight and that had led to a lot of health problems like indigestion. I started working out and doing strength training. That helped me lose weight but my indigestion was only getting worse. I started to face a lot more health issues due to indigestion and an unhealthy gut. So I started researching a lot on Ayurvedic remedies and therefore stumbled upon various asanas that help in curing indigestion.
Although the start of my journey was focused on fixing myself physically, I realised later that it was making me better everyday holistically. I started reading more and more about the psychological and philosophical aspects of Yoga.And I could not stop myself from falling into the beautiful depths of it. This is how Yoga touched my soul.
I have become more patient in every aspect of life. I have learnt how to respond to situations instead of reacting. That keeps my stress level in control and hence brings harmony in my hormones. I rarely experience anger or disappointment anymore. That is what happens when you learn Yoga holistically and implement it in your life. It just makes your life simpler. From the physical aspect, my digestion is 100 percent fine, my body feels light and healthy all the time. I have learnt how to live mindfully. I have learnt how to be thankful for little things in life. Even struggles.
My suggestion is to always start your journey with an open heart and mind. Always practice Yoga under a good Guru/teacher who would teach the Yoga holistically and not just physical practice. There comes a point in practice when self realisation kicks in and it breaks down all your wrong beliefs only to rebuild it with a strong and logical foundation. This process becomes overwhelming and you will feel a lot of changes in you. Accept and embrace. It is a sign that you are becoming a better version of yourself.
