Savasana is an asana of rest and relaxation, mostly performed at the end of yoga sessions after various more active asanas. This asana sends the body in a restful and meditative state which helps in releasing stress and repairing tissue and cells. It is a perfect asana to end fast paced yoga sessions.
Following are the steps on how to perform the savasana:-
-Lie flat on your back
-Slowly relax your entire body.
-Start with focusing your awareness to the right foot, move on to the right knee (move your attention on to the other leg), and so on, and slowly move upwards to your head, relaxing each body part.
-Keep your breathing slow, gentle and deep allowing your breathing to relax. Inhaling energizes the body while the exhaling brings relaxation.
-After some time, when fully relaxed, keeping your eyes closed, roll onto your right side. Lie in that position for a minute. Then, taking the support of your hand, gently sit up into Sukhasana (Easy Pose).
-Your eyes remain closed and while a few deep inhales and exhales you gradually become aware of your environment and the body. Gently open your eyes.
